Driven Hunt

2024/25 Season

Shooters of high birds know October 12nd is the start of the British driven shooting season. It’s the time when family and friends gather together to celebrate a tradition of pheasant hunting that has endured the test of time. Join us for a series of Continental hunts reminiscent of the Edwardian period which is the Golden Era of shooting.

October - Driven Hunt

On a driven hunt, hunters are silently placed around a hunting area before a team of beaters – typically with dogs – walks slowly through the area, pushing the game, hoping that it passes the hunters on its way out.

Renowned as New England’s finest upland bird hunting destination, The Preserve Sporting Club offers the best landscapes and presentations for hunting, shooting and the camaraderie of fine dining at day’s end.

This year, we’ll celebrate the shooting season with monthly upland hunts through the fall and winter. These exclusive full-day outings invite you to experience something you’re not soon to forget.

The day begins with a light fare breakfast in the clubhouse, or you can opt to shoot our compact sporting clays to warm up. Orientation starts mid-morning followed by a 500-bird release. Shooters will rotate between our newest hunt course.

Two shooters will man each station with a retriever and handler standing by to assist. Wind and sky make magic as you perfect your leads while pheasants race overhead. Between pegs is a brief and scenic walk filled with conversations of great shots and the ones that got away.

The day is concluded with a lively and exquisitely prepared seasonal game dinner by Double Barrel Steak, followed by a pairing of Scotch and cigars.
